A relationship that began four years ago with the construction of over 150 homes and now announces the launch of a new project with more than 800 homes to be built over the next ten years.
The privileged golf destination at La Cala Resort in Mijas enters into a partnership with the highly experienced and financially stable British developer, Taylor Wimpey.
Four years of collaboration between the developer Taylor Wimpey España and La Cala Resort have resulted in the construction and delivery of 150 homes in one of the best residential and leisure areas along the Costa del Sol in Mijas Costa.
At an event celebrated today at the Club House in the aforementioned resort, with the Mayor of Mijas D. Juan Carlos Maldonado present, together with other members of the council and the Managing Directors of both companies, the news about the new joint venture between the two businesses that will transform the municipality of Mijas was announced to the press and professionals from the real estate sector.
Over the next 10 years the property developer that was founded in Great Britain will invest more than 166 million euros in the construction of 800 new homes, with a variety of apartments and semi-detached properties on offer, entailing a complete transformation of the area and the very characteristics of the population in Mijas Costa. Around 4,000 new neighbours originating from different European countries are expected to choose La Cala Resort for their new second home on the Costa del Sol because of the natural beauty of the peaceful surroundings, the safety of the resort, the proximity to Malaga airport and the quality and features provided by the new properties.
La Cala Resort, one of the most important golf complexes in Andalucia, has three 18-hole golf courses designed by Cabell Robinson, an academy located next to the golf course with 6 holes and par 3, there is also a football pitch and facilities in line with FIFA specifications. It is the only complex with an 8-kilometre running track. The hotel provides 107 rooms, three themed restaurants and a Spa covering 1,300 m2 amongst other services on offer.
Juan Carlos Maldonado, Mayor of Mijas praised the initiative undertaken by La Cala Resort and Taylor Wimpey España and said that it will, undoubtedly, improve the quality of life for the residents of Mijas.
David Kelly, Chief Executive of FBD Property & Leisure Resorts stated “with the alliance between the Irish hotel chain FBD Property & Leisure Resorts, owner of La Cala Resort, and the British developer Taylor Wimpey España, Mijas will become one of the most important golf and second home destinations on the Costa del Sol.”
Javier Ballester, General Manager of Taylor Wimpey España, explained the strategic importance that this partnership has for their future business plan in Spain. ”To have been able to secure land in a privileged location and work with a respected partner such as FBD Property & Leisure Resorts is vital to us. If we also take into account the legal and management support offered by the Mijas Council, we have a perfect alliance”.
Within the strategic development programme launched by Taylor Wimpey España and La Cala Resort, with the institutional support of Mijas Council, the sales launch for a new residential development called GrandView was just announced today, comprising 20 luxury penthouses and 40 apartments, overlooking the golf course and fully integrated into the local scenery with panoramic views of the golf course and the valley of Cala de Mijas, which together with the 55 semi-detached properties currently under construction at the Horizon Golf project completes the promotion that both groups are successfully marketing at international level at the moment.
The price of the new apartments at GrandView includes a private underground garage and a storage room, solar panels, thermal insulation and soundproofing, natural ventilation system and the owners will also be presented with the “La Cala Privilege Card” which affords the card holder a wide range of benefits when using the different leisure services at the resort.
Work started in January and the planned handover date for this first phase of the GrandView complex in La Cala de Mijas is November 2019.
The predicted development plan is to maintain an annual production rate of at least 100 homes, between apartments and different sized semi-detached properties, at La Cala Resort in order to provide a variety of homes appealing to future international buyers.
