La Cala Resort confirms once again, it’s commitment to women and sport. As a prelude to the International Women’s Day; the leisure & golf resort has organized a vibrant and exclusive tournament on the 6th March “just for them.”
Although this is a widespread sport, the organisers at La Cala Resort want to demonstrate with this competition that “women are great players.”
The competition counts among its sponsors, well-known companies such as Viajes Master Golf Challenge, Röhnisch clothing fashion brand, Ibex insurance company,Lady Golf and El Corte Ingles. All these companies are generously providing prizes andgifts in the form of trophies, a stay in a golf resort, gift vouchers, and sessions with apersonal shopper or invitations to play in the final of a nationwide women’s tour. La Cala, for its part, will be providing a wide range of prizes, ranging from golfing material to vouchers to enjoy in the resort itself.
This will be a sports day for the female audience; to end old stereotypes and demonstrate your skill and fitness. We expect to see some great shots, big plays, and an unforgettable atmosphere. The course, Campo America, which is the most popular among women, offers a fascinating round of 6,009 meters and par 72.
Ana Torres, Golf & MICE accounts manager, stressed that “this is an event open to all licensed players in Spain as well as other international federations” adding that “all the players who wish to participate are welcome to do so.”
The ‘International Women’s Day Tournament’includes amongst other things, competition green fee, shared buggy, welcome pack and cocktail with prizes and raffle. The elected mode of play is ‘stableford’ over 18 holes, played in two categories. The registration fee is 60 euros for non-members while club members enjoy special prices. It is planned that the shotgun start on 6th March, will take place at 9.30 am.
Those interested can register through the website of La Cala Resort (go to ‘golf competitions’) or send an email with your details to golf@lacala.com.
The competition enjoys the support of G.i.r.l.s. Golf Society based in Marbella. Its founder, Lynn Fisher, maintains a close relationship with La Cala Resort in order to promote golf among female players. The group organizes a monthly tournamentthroughout the year in different areas of the Costa del Sol. The association aims to spread the playing of golf among women, bringing them closer to the sport.
