Spanish top players to contest Junior Masters at La Cala Resort

La Cala Resort, Mijas, Malaga, in conjunction with the Andalusian Golf Federation, is welcoming some of Spain’s top players for the sixth staging of the inter-regional Junior Masters on January 3rd and 4th.

The regional golf federations in Spain will compete for the prestigious title.

The first staging of the competition in 2004, saw some of the top names in amateur golf in Spain competing. These included subsequent European Tour winners; Pablo Martín Benavides, Álvaro Quirós & Azahara Muñoz Other leading Spanish players to have competed include Jorge Campillo, Anna Arese and Pedro Oriol.

The most successful federations have been Andalucía with three titles and Galicia with two.

The high level of the players competing in the competition reflects the high regard in which La Cala Resort is held in Spanish amateur golf circles. Its aim is to continue promoting competition at the highest level among promising young Spanish players with the goal of improving overall standards and cementing Spain’s position in junior golf at a European level.

The format is strokeplay with the best tree results from the four team members counting on both days. The teams are comprised of two boys and two girls.

This year’s event takes place on Campo Asia and following teams have entered:

Welcome to take part in the 1st edition of SIGA Charity Junior Championship!

SIGA is a foundation that offers blind people the opportunity to play golf. By participating in this championship, you will help SIGA with their admirable work. The total entry fee is being donated to SIGA.

PARTICIPANTS
The competition is limited to players under 22 years (born 1989 or later) with Spanish or other International handicap.

COURSE
Campo Asia, 18 holes

FORMAT
Each participant choose his preferred format: Stroke play (scratch) or Stableford (handicap).

CATEGORIES AND PRIZES
There will be a total of three different Stableford categories (two for boys and one for girls) plus two stroke play categories (one for boys and one for girls).
Prizes will be given to the 3 best results in each category (minimum of 6 players per category).

PRIZE-GIVING
Prize-giving to be held when all players have finished their round.

Welcome to play competitive golf at a high level on Costa del Sol!

La Cala Resort (Costa del Sol, Spain) continues to support golf at a high level and is organising the 2nd edition of the COSTA DEL SOL U-25 AMATEUR OPEN in February 2010.

The COSTA DEL SOL U-25 AMATEUR OPEN is a unique tournament for amateurs under 25 and with handicaps under 5.

This 54-hole strokeplay event will be played on February 15th, 16th and 17th.
There will be a practice round on February, 14th.

ELIGIBILITY:
Open to all women & men amateur players born 1985 or after and who are members of a recognised Golf Union or Federation.

FORMAT:
One Stroke Play (scratch) round of 18 holes shall be played on each of the three days.

ENTRIES:
Entries shall be submitted in the official Entry Form by fax or email to La Cala Resort by 12:00 a.m., 1st February 2010.
Entries are limited to 90 competitors, plus ties, with the lowest exact handicap.
The list of participants will be published two days after the closing date at www.lacala.com.
Any claims must be submitted within the next 24 hours.
The entry fee of € 80 per player will be charged on 5th February 2010 to the credit card confirmed on the entry form.

REGISTRATION:
Competitors must register in person at the Championship Office on site, not later than 12:00 hours on Sunday, 14th February.
Telephone calls may be accepted in exceptional circum-stances.
Players not registered in time might be substituted by players on the waiting list.

PRIZES:
The Championship winner and runner-up in each category will receive trophies.
A minimum of 6 competitors is required for the celebration of the women’s Championship.
The Championship Committee reserves the right to alter the format of the Championship in order to achieve a result.

ELECTRIC TROLLEYS AND PRACTICE ROUNDS:
Electric trolleys and practice times shall be requested from La Cala Resort by filling in the corresponding Booking Form and sending it by fax or e-mail to La Cala Resort before 1st February.
Confirmation of practice times will be sent after that the list of participants has been published.

ACCOMMODATION:
Interested players must return the corresponding accommodation booking form to La Cala Resort not later than 1st February 2010.
Confirmations of reservations will be sent once the request has been received but the organisation has the right to cancel reservations if the players have not entered.

This competition is open to family teams of two players (from two different generations).
The “Parent” can be on any sex and any age. The “Child” can be the son, daughter, grandchild, nephew or niece of any age.

FORMAT & CATEGORIES
Greensome (Stableford), 18 holes
Both players in the team drive-off from their respective tees during all the round. The best drive is chosen and the play is continued with alternative shots with that ball until the hole is finished. The team decides who plays the second shot and starts the alternative shots from there.
There is one category with prizes for the best five results and other surprise prizes…

PRIZE-GIVING
When everyone has finished their round the prize-giving will be held.

Welcome to take part in the 3rd edition of Taylor Made Junior Championship!

PARTICIPANTS
The competition is limited to players under 22s (born 1988 or later) with Spanish or other International handicap.

FORMAT
Players with handicaps 15 or less play stroke play and choose to enter the Scratch or the Handicap category.
The format for players with handicap 16 or more will be Stableford (handicap).
The youngest participants (handicaps between 37 and 48) will play 12 holes on the Executive Par 3 course (Stableford)

There will be a total of eight different handicap categories plus the scratch category.

Both players in the team drive-off from their respective tees during all the round. The best drive is chosen and the play is continued with alternative shots with that ball until the hole is finished. The team decides who plays the second shot and starts the alternative shots from there.

ACOSOL y MANCOMUNIDAD DE MUNICIPIOS DE LA COSTA DEL SOL OCCIDENTAL have launched this year a Golf Circuit at golf courses that use recycled water for their installations. The final tournament of the circuit will be played at La Cala Resort on the 23rd October.
